"Solid line" means a line with no breaks. Like if you were drawing it with a pencil, you'd put the pencil down and draw without picking it up. "Dotted line" means, as the name implies, a line made up of dots. To draw it you would make a dot with a pencil, move the pencil a little and make another dot, etc.
If you have a whole mixture then follow shape before colour "the dotted red line", and be aware that there is variation in use. In particular there is a book with the title A Red Dotted Line (It's a spy novel set in Moscow), and in terms of grammar references, you won't do better than the British Council.
In this tutorial (line three) it is hard for me to interpret what "point down the middle of the data" means.I know from the tutorial the mentioned vector (doted line in the following plot) is the one of which the slope is positive (the red arrow points to).
I know the the lines 1 and 2 can be referenced as "solid line" and "dashed line", respectively. However, the question is how should I reference the the line number 3? I came up with two phrases,"dashed and doted line", "doted and dashed line". Are these concocted phrases correct ? If no, any suggestion would be appreciated.

In a phonetic transcription, the apostrophe (actually a short straight down mark placed between letters above the line) indicates the primary stress, and a similar mark placed on the line indicates secondary stress. This is a line I am writing. I know that "influence" is both a count and noncount noun and that it is used mostly uncountably to refer to effects. But since I am talking about different kinds of influence, I am wondering if I should say: Then trade would have different influences on wages and employment.
