Having used the old Talktalk/AOL webmail service satisfactorily for many years, I find the new Talktalk mail unusable for many reasons discussed elsewhere by other TalktalkCommunity members. I am now trying to use my Outllook.com email address as my main email account connected (POP) to Talktalk.
I cannot successfully configure an AOL email account in Outlook 2013 for the client. I suggest Outlook as I feel it has better security and offers better features and presentation then their usual interface via AOL webmail.

Hi, Based on the description you’re facing issue working with the IMAP folders in Outlook 2013. How does the folders now show in the AOL webmail? I am keeping POP3/SMTP mail server at Verizon.net migrated to AOL accounts. The configuration is the same on all email apps I am using: AOL webmail, Outlook 2003, Windows Live Mail, and outlook.com. All were working fine till 2-3 weeks ago. After that Outlook.com stopped work at one address in beginning, and at second address after that.
There is no other option in Outlook to synchronize contacts and calendars from Outlook to webmail if the email account is configured as POP or IMAP. Regarding synchronizing Outlook contacts and calendar items with web-mail using AOL sync software, Outlook plays a passive role in synchronization process.
