Star Pubs & Bars is the pub arm of Heineken UK, the UK subsidiary of Dutch brewing giant Heineken. Heineken acquired the pubs as a result of its takeover of Scottish & Newcastle in a joint purchase with Carlsberg in 2008. As of 2024, the company currently runs around 2,400 pubs in the UK.
The pub company said the expenditure was part of Star’s overall £40m investment in upgrading its pubs in 2025. Star added the garden makeovers would focus on increasing covers to boost sales, with the aim to deliver a “quality experience for pubgoers” who are being more selective about where they spend their money due to ongoing pressures on consumer spending.
