Brísingamen was a brilliant golden necklace possessed by the goddess Freya. Like all the treasures of Norse mythology, Brísingamen was created by the dwarves , the master craftsmen of the Norse cosmos.

Freya and her Brisingamen Brísingamen (Old Norse brisinga = fire and men = jewelry), is in Norse mythology the goddess Freya’s necklace. It is the most beautiful jewelry in the world and was forged by the four dwarves: Alfrik, Berling, Dvalin and Grer in the dwarf kingdom Svartalfheim.
In a fourteenth century tale, SORLA þáttr It refers to a Freyja necklace, identifiable with Brisingamen. It is said that Freyja gathered four dwarves near his home, they forged a wonderful jewel. The names of the Dwarves were Álfrigg, Dvalinn, Berlingr and Grérr.
Brisingamen by Alfgeir Starkhendr (Introductory comments: Brísingamen (“Fiery necklace” or “Necklace/Belt/Ring of the Fiery Ones”) is as emblematic of Freyja as the Hammer Mjöllnir is of Thor, or the Spear Gungnir is of Odhinn.
