Why are most posts on r/conservative "flaired users only" . Because the population of reddit is 90% liberal. Whenever an r/conservative post has enough upvotes to show up on the front page or gets cross linked to some other popular sub it gets flooded with those liberals commenting and upvoting each other until a left-wing echo chamber typical of most other political subs.
Nearly all Reddit communities are run by users, and not admins. Anyone can set one up, and they are managed and moderated by other Reddit users. Reddit's mostly a platform for people to set up and join communities. User flair is just text that appears after your name. They're subreddit-specific.
What I am concerned about with user flairs is the loss of CSS class. Over at r/askscience have thousands of users that have been flaired over the years by the mods. Each user has a personal text flair and a color that correspond to their field of expertise. In the redesign the texts are carried over but I haven't found how to transfert the colors.

In this thread several mods of r/conservative laid out the case that they had tagged almost every election-season post as "flaired users only" to prevent brigading, and that they have stopped doing that because as the election season wound down, the brigading had stopped. They got lots of downvotes, but made a pretty reasonable case. But now trending on their subreddit, hitting the number 2 ...
In most subreddits there's a checkbox in the sidebar at the right saying Show my flair on this subreddit ..., and this is followed by your user name. If '(edit)' is also displayed there, you can click on that to add text, or in some cases icons from a list, to your name. What you can add is specific to the individual subreddit.
To display your User Flair, you must also have the “☑️ Show my flair on this subreddit” box checked on the sidebar. The only thing having User Flair does is grant you the ability to comment in posts marked with the submission flair "Flaired Users Only". All the other posts not flaired as such are open for you to comment in.
Our community, specifically the flaired posters (Which again, there are a lot of flaired posters), wanted us to deal with the issue of left wing comments vastly out numbering the conservative ones. Note: For some users, the "User Flair Preview" feature may be located elsewhere on the sidebar. If you're using the Reddit App: Tap the "..." menu in the upper right hand corner of this Subreddit's main page. A menu will pop up and you'll see the "Change User Flair" option. Tap on that and select your flair. Done!
