I'm in house IT for a small office, we moved to Dell laptops with Win10 in 2022. While I was installing 1Password 8 with only some users (10-15) I would receive the same message. I assumed it was the old install file i was using from a network share. I would reboot the laptop and then grab a new installer from the 1Password website to fix it.
Thanks. Is this correct: on a given platform the 1password app has the secure database of login/password pairs. A browser extension on Firefox or Chrome or Safari is a user interface helper that (I assume) grabs the login info from 1password app. And how is 1password on iPad or iOS synced with Windows or Android and when?
Legacy versions of 1Password are no longer receiving updates, so we can't guarantee their functionality or reliability as your operating system and web browser continue to be updated. 1Password 6 can no longer fill passwords in Safari because Apple discontinued the Safari Extension Gallery long after 1Password 6 had stopped receiving updates; we'd never choose to cripple 1Password intentionally.
The purpose of this move is to encourage all 1Password v7 customers to upgrade to become 1Password v8 customers. If you currently have a PC where the legacy extension is still running, you can export it and import it locally into a new Chrome instance.

With 8.6.1 here on Windows, I can neither preview any *.txt, pdf or anything, nor does the "download" function make any sense at the moment. Downloaded files are stored encrypted in User\appdata\local\1Password\files. I might stress, without the folder opening itself after the download or any hint where they are - I just found the folder myself.
Hello, I have had 1Password for about 2 or 3 months. Its worked perfectly fine. Today I experienced the first crash when Windows started. It said 1Password crashed and asked if i wanted to send the crash log or exit. I didnt pay attention and clicked exit. After that, I reopened the 1Password app and it started correctly.
By not highlighting on the front page of the 1Password.com website that it is possible to download and install version 7.9.5 and thereby avoid having to take out a subscription, the creators of 1Password are increasing the surface area for attack.

Go into the 1Password desktop app and open Settings. In the Labs tab, click "Enable custom browser support" and enable it. In the Browser tab, click "Add Browser". In your Applications folder, find and add "DuckDuckGo", then authorize 1Password when prompted. Once you've done that, restart DuckDuckGo.
