Tesco Express stores are neighbourhood convenience stores averaging 200 square metres (2,200 sq ft), stocking mainly food with an emphasis on higher-margin products such as sweets, crisps, chocolate, biscuits, fizzy drinks and processed food (due to small store size, and the necessity to maximize revenue per square foot) alongside everyday essentials.
Recently, the bigger supermarkets went big time into opening up smaller versions of themselves on high streets, in garages etc. Tesco is a pretty good option, and I know one near a uni which clearly has tailored its stock to who the students are and what they want. As others say, Tesco Express is the smallest one, then there is also Tesco Metro.
At my local express I basically stand near the till with me package clearly in hand, then they’ll ding for a worker to come to me. They have a computer separate from the tills and that’s where the Evri phone looking unit is, they’ll scan my package, write the note thing sign etc and off I go!
I personally started working 2 months ago as a temp at Tesco express, they told me I was a hard worker and extended my contract for 4 months, hopefully this leads to me being a permanent employee. So far, working there has been pretty chill, my colleagues are nice and supportive and the manager is alright but the guy can be a bit sly sometimes.
I might have an opportunity to become a shift leader in a Tesco express but I'm not sure if it's a great idea as I've spoken to most of the shift leaders at my place and a lot of then have said it's not great as you don't get your breaks and you have no choice over your shifts, 2 of the 3 that I spoke too have since left so make of that what you will.

They average 70,000 sq ft, providing almost the full Tesco product range and usually a full range of in-store services such as pharmacies, opticians and key cutters. Tesco Superstores have until recently been referred to as simply 'Tesco'.
If you want to work in a nice small team and feel like a nice family and know all the people you work with express. If you want to meet like 1% of the randoms go extra. I did one fresh produce evening at a extra and hated it. Express long as it’s not a metro park express way nicer.
I have seen the costa express machine whenever i went to my local tesco but never actually used it. But for the 1st time i have decided to use that coffee machine. Before i used it, i signed up to the costa club app on me phone because you can get benefits with it and gets beans upon the purchase of coffee to get a free cup of coffee when you reach 8 beans.
