Ozempic is an injectable type 2 diabetes medication taken once a week. It has also been shown to effectively help users lose weight. Ozempic contains the active ingredient semaglutide. This mimics a hormone that tells your brain you feel full, suppressing your appetite.

Ozempic ® is used to treat adults (aged 18 years and older) with type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise is not enough: with other medicines for diabetes – when they are not enough to control your blood sugar levels. These may be medicines you take by mouth or inject such as insulin.
Ozempic is to be injected subcutaneously in the abdomen, in the thigh or in the upper arm. The injection site can be changed without dose adjustment. Ozempic should not be administered intravenously or intramuscularly.
What is Ozempic? Ozempic is a brand name for semaglutide, a GLP-1 analogue which increases the levels of the hormone incretin in the body, helping to increase the rate of insulin production when needed. It also helps to suppress the liver’s production of glucose.
Ozempic is available as a solution for injection in prefilled pens and can only be obtained with a prescription. It is injected under the skin of the belly, the thigh or the upper arm. The starting dose of Ozempic is 0.25 mg once a week. After four weeks, this dose should be increased to 0.5 mg.
