@elliejellybelly Origin is clearly misreading the available free storage, but we're not sure why. Some people have reported that trying over and over, while probably running the Origin reset tool and restarting every few tries, does get Origin to work eventually. But that means there's at least some random element too.

So I decided to remove the clean boot (enable everything again) which of course, made it stop working. So I started to disable everything, but enabled one half of the list, still didn't work. Noticed I had McAfee installed (and yes, this is important) so decided to uninstall that stuff because I already have an antivirus program (Norton).
The only thing I can confirmed that overlay is working in TS4, is by adding Origin to Non-Steam library, which I did previously before TS4 officially available on Steam. I tested this now and the game at least show the overlay is working, which technically solved a bit of my original problem.
It keeps saying that I'm offline, despite having perfect wifi connection. Origin won't open, I'm on Mac. At one point, it said that origin needed to update, and I decided to postpone it. Now I can't update it at all, 'nor open it. When I go into launchpad and click sims 4, it directs me to origin which shows the same thing.
The logon screen appears, then an empty Origin window appears for a moment and then a Crash Report is generated. I tried uninstalling it complately and installing it from scratch, including running a clean up script found in this thread, running as administrator also didn't help. I attach the two crashes reports generated.

when Origin was phased out and it made you change over to the EA app only, thats when the issue arose. when i logged into EA on my desktop after it offloaded origin, i noticed my battlefield 2042 was oddy shown as uninstalled? i went ahead to download the game again and thats when i experienced the present dilemma. every other game is fine. all my other battlefield games are no problem, my ...
Glad to hear Origin is able to see the Origin bought games are there and just needed to make new registry entries for itsself. Also with a motherobard change you really should not have had to reinstall windows, you should have been able to just install it and then windows would of asked you to then reactivate.
