Fortunately I was able to implement a procedural system so that the ivy would grow by itself. The result is a small tool allowing a virtual ivy to grow in your 3d world.
Adds generated ivy to a mesh object starting at the 3D cursor. No preview yet. This extension was part of Blender 4.1 bundled add-ons. It is now offered as it is, with limited supported. No changelog for this release. This extension does not require special permissions.

The Baga Ivy Generator uses geometry nodes to create realistic ivy which can be drawn over objects in a scene. The add-on also comes with a large library of over 120 assets which include leaves and flowers for the ivy.

This will generate your initial Ivy Curve and Leaves. From here you can access the Ivy menu in the Sidebar. I suggest to make small changes and then press Update Ivy in the 3D Viewport operator.
