Do I need to have a SMART TV in order to use Apple TV? I have a new Vizio 48" LED HDTV in my bedroom and would like to utilize the APPLE TV in order to mirror my iPad/macbook pro to do work in bed when needed.

Is there anyway to stream content from my iPhone 6 Plus to my Vizio smart tv without a internet connection? Also do you have to have a wifi connection for any of the Apple TV to work?
If your smart TV supports the Apple TV app, then you can use that without plugging in additional devices. If you have a third party HDMI streaming device that supports the Apple TV app, then you can use that.

Thinking of going to tv streaming only. Does each tv in a household require it's own Apple TV 4K to stream? Or can one serve two or more tvs? Don't understand exactly how the set up works. Know I can stream from laptop, iPhone, & iPad, but don't know how it works with the tvs. Have smart tvs, but older & probably not compatible with services like YouTube TV. [Edited by Moderator]

The Apple TV set-top box offers much more than the Apple TV app. The Apple TV app is just one of the apps on the Apple TV box. The Apple TV set-top box also offers Home Sharing, AirPlay, several Apple cloud services, a choice of thousands of third party apps, Dolby Atmos*, etc.
The Apple TV box will work with any TV that has an HDMI input. If your 3rd generation worked fine, then so will a newer model. In 2021, I would say go for the 4K model to be ready for the coming years, particularly if you have of 4K TV or consider getting one while you still have the your upcoming Apple TV box.
