I would like to inform that WordPad is a word processor software with basic formatting options, and it is included in all versions of the OS since Windows 95 to Windows 10. To open WordPad in Windows 10, Type WordPad in the Search box and press Enter. WordPad lets you create, edit, save, open, view, and print text documents.

It listed over 60 Wordpad.exe related files, MUI files, weird files. Copilot said windows.old would disappear in a month. I thought I'd have to copy all these files. But then, instead of using Search in File Explorer I merely navigated to windows.old\programfiles\windowsnt\accessories and there was Wordpad.exe and wordpadfilter.dll, just 2 files.

WordPad will remain available in older versions of Windows, including Windows 11 23H2, Windows 11 22H2, and Windows 10 21H2. However, it has been removed from Windows 11 2024 Update and Windows Server 2025, which are also being released alongside the consumer update.
