He was put on furosemide and had recheck x-rays done days later.
I was told by my Vet that using Frontline Plus for dogs on the cats is perfectly fine. Use a small syringe (without the needle) and measure .5 ml for each cat. I have 5 cats and 2 dogs. I have been doing this for 5 yrs + and I have never had a problem with the cats getting any reaction from the dog flea treatment, and it works fine.
The ingredients inside are exactly the same for dogs and cats, same strength even. (Not so with Revolution - you can split that too, but watch the strength). I appreciate the poster below who showed the three doses: .23ml for kittens, .4ml for cats 5-9 lbs and .8ml for 10lbs plus.
i have 3 dogs - a german shepherd, a turkish kangal and a bulgarian shepherd dog and all 3 get on with my 2 cats just fine. the kangal and my 4 year old cat spend hours playing in the garden together and the cats always make a beeline for the dogs first thing in the morning. The dogs don't like other cats coming in the garden though

I went through with this treatment for both ears, even though only the one ear was having issues. Now that I have my cat home, I decided to look up more information on it. I see a few posts about the ointment causing deafness in dogs and this is making me concerned that my cat may have issues.
Furosemide is dehydrating to cats. Sure it is a diuretic but it is getting that "water" from somewhere and that somewhere is the cat's vital organs and body. So it can cause dehydration as well as hypotension and also can damage the kidneys.

She prefers wet canned food. I have been going a little crazy trying to find out what products offer low sodium.
