I used to have the old desktop app and then it broke when I installed the new Outlook 365 version. Now I can only start it in safe mode, I have tried to repair it but it doesn't work. So the only way I can access my e-mail is currently in a bad IMAP webclient which we want to leave/close.

Try this: Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Default Apps In the first search box under "Set a default for a file type or link type" , type "MAILTO" and click on the search icon, when it is found, click on whatever app icon it lists, then select the Outlook app. Essentially, you want it to look like what I show you in the screenshot.
