An off-peak return isn't quota-controlled (so it won't sell out) and will be the same price at the station as on Trainline. If you buy from Trainline in advance of the day of travel they will charge you a booking fee.
A valid rant, that's why people should avoid trainline.con and book direct with the relevent Train company; no booking fees, better customer services and you can get online discounts for tickets. Good luck with your complaint, hopefully trainline might send you some extra travel vouchers, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
No, if you bought a Railcard on the Trainline app, then you will need to display it in the app on your phone, and a printout or screenshot will not pass muster. For future years you can order plastic railcards from the official Railcards website, or buy a paper/card railcard from any railway station ticket office.
Bought 3 Year Senior Railcard from Trainline in June 2023, through MSE offer and it vanished from the Trainline App by December 23. 7 months since first comlaining, Trainline can still not make my Railcard available for use through the App and refuse any refund.
The Trainline have done nothing wrong, and didn't impose the rules; so they're entitled to be paid for the work they did and admin in refunding the ticket etc. It's likely the train operator will also charge them for the refund itself, so not fair they're out of pocket.
I don't usually buy through trainline as it's more expensive than going direct, but this ad suggested you'd get £30 cashback with a purchase when you sign up to their partner. Signing up is free for 30 days (cancel anytime) then £15 a month thereafter.
Keep screenshots of all transactions and code numbers in case you need to argue with trainline in the future, ideally screenshot the card visible in the app. Note once you have the card you can book anywhere, but you need to be able to show the digital card in the trainline app on the train for revenue inspection.
Previously the Trainline had changed its terms to allow customers to change tickets without an admin fee if there was disruption due to Covid. As restrictions are still in place, I assumed these same terms would cover my ticket, but according to their website (which I have now double checked), it says "Since Monday 7th September 2020 pre-COVID ticket conditions and fees have been reintroduced."
Trainline initially said they would refund but I had to return paper tickets (cost £2.35) signed for. I chased this yesterday as refund not processed and they said we never received the returned tickets. I’ve searched my purse and handbag but can’t find the tracking receipt with the number anywhere so Trainline won’t do anything.
Mine is stored on the Trainline App (and stored locally on the phone) but I still have to put glasses on to power up the phone, locate the Trainline app, navigate the menu to find the digital card image to show the cashier when I buy a ticket.
