if "Search engine used in the address bar." is not already set to DuckDuckGo, select it from the dropdown. in "Search on new tabs uses search box or address bar" select address bar from the drop down, this will mean it will use your preferred search engine even if you type in the search box on the new tab page.
Click the Search engine used in the address bar dropdown; you should now see DuckDuckGo; select it. If you'd also like to use DuckDuckGo instead of Bing on the New Tab Page, click on the Search on new tabs uses search box or address bar dropdown and select Address bar.
