5.- Try to add your favorite wallpaper again. It should work. I found that this option gets enabled in Performance options when you "adjust for best performance" and then when you go back to "adjust for best appearance" that particular option remains set, preventing you from changing your wallpaper from plain black.
My wallpaper keeps vanishing to a black background.....I will set the image and it will be there for a while then it will just spontaneously go "POOF" and be gone and changed to a black background. Sometimes it will just start showing black squares behind the icons on the desktop first and then just go "POOF" and switch to black.
Had an update last night and restarted today. My desktop background is black. I went to settings and I can change the color but my wallpaper photos have disappeared. I see no way in settings to reset my wallpaper with my photos. Making things more complicated is NOT an update, it's a pain!
Hello! Recently I noticed that my desktop wallpaper changes itself to black (marked as Windows 10 solid color Black wallpaper). First I thought it was a problem with my last wallpaper, which I had for months, so I changed it. After a few hours using my computer I noticed that it changed itself to black again.
Download the wallpaper again; Save it on C: Set it as wallpaper directly from Personalize > Browse (instead of Right Click on image > Set as desktop background) Now in Personalize screen, the correct wallpaper is showed (instead of a black screen), and the issue didn't happen yet for one hour

I am a system administrator for the company I work for. My boss wanted me to add a specific wallpaper for all the computers in our domain. So I activated and changed all the wallpapers with GPO. At the start, everything seems to work fine. After a day or two, some users complained to me that their desktop turned black.
On startup, after the welcome screen, Windows 10 drops right into a black screen and a cursor. Nothing else. No wallpaper, desktop, icons, Systray, start button, menu, nothing. I'm able to get the task manager up and run programs, I'm typing this from this affected PC now. Upgraded from Win7 Home 32 bit.

After turning on my computer, after the latest update, the windows 11 background has completely disappeared - changed to black. I cant change this. In settings, if I click on background it comes up with related settings e.g. contrast and help. The option to change the background has completely disappeared. Any ideas?
