Ideally you get it direct from a dealer or order it online (the VAG brake fluid specified which conforms to VW 501 14) but in a pinch you can substitute other DOT4 LV fluids that match that spec.

Gonna be flushing my brake fluid soon and just wondering how much i need to buy? I thought I read somewhere that just 1litre would be be enough but that doesn't seem enough to me.
I'm taking my '07 GTI in to have the front & rear rotors/pads replaced, and along with it the brake fluid flushed & changed. I'm supplying the parts, but wasn't sure how much brake fluid is required. Is 1 liter enough, or do I need 2? 1 Liter is enough in my experience.

Is there a DIY tutorial on how to flush the brake fluid on a GTI? I've done my own brake fluid flushes before but all my previous cars were automatic and I understand on a manual car the clutch is involved somehow too.
