There are two versions of the 2TB Western Digital Red HDD. The WD20EFRX has a 64MB cache. The WD20EFAX has a 256MB cache. The 64MB version is the one commonly available. It's the only version on PCPartPicker. And I've had one in my current computer as secondary mass storage for four years, so I'm definitely considering it for a new build.

I use WD20EFRX 2TB as my OS HDD and another one as backup HDD for home use because I read somewhere they are much more reliable than the regular HDD drives. Recently a technician told me that these drives are less reliable than regular HDD's if used for home use, because they aren't meant to be turned on and off occasionally.
WD20EFRX took my eye for about 40$ more than the alternatives. I read good reviews about it (much more robust and reliable than the green or blue WD HDD's), but don't know if this HDD can work in my computer as a regular HDD (beacasue it is a NAS HDD).
