I'd like to replace the stylus on my Revolver turntable;- it's fitted with an A&R P77 cartridge that I've failed thus far to find a new stylus for. Can anybody point me to a supplier of a replacement P77 or suggest a comparable replacement cartridge.
My guess is the P77 is no more than a MM cartridge with much more exacting construction tolerances and quality control. This would of course produce a higher standard with better separation specs, better and more consistent sound quality.
I'm currently using my old Stilton P77 in the Thorens, and pretty good it sounds too for a cartridge which is 25+ years old. Could do with the tip replacing though as it's probably past its best...

I have an Arcam A&R P77 Cartridge and stylus. It is new never been used and still sealed on the plastic box.
This new version of the popular Garrott P77 phono cartridge has slightly different suspension and the MicroScanner II diamond. This has resulted in a flatter frequency response right across the spectrum but it still retains the full sounding characteristic of the original P77.
Obviously the original C77, E77, P77 and P78 styli. The Shure N91E (not ED) replacements will fit (and this is what most companies who list a replacement offer) but the VTA isn’t quite right and is a bonded elliptical tip (originals were all nude types).
The P77 can be anything but dull but it needs a bit of care - for starters check the total capacitance it sees - it should be around 450pF. including the cartridge itself, the arm cable and the capacitance already on the phono input. I would certainly go with a Jico tip if you can.
