The trip.com railcard offer seems good - happy to buy the first ticket through them to get the railcard activated, and subsequent tickets if the app is OK.

I had book a trainline ticket online and even received the email confirmation with the code. I went to the trainstation and entered my card into the machine "first step is enter card into machine for verification process".
I'm not a mad ranter - I am sure that eventually I will sort this out - but I suspect that I will have to buy more expensive tickets via Trainline or other online service, and will probably lose my payments to Trainpal (which are well over £100!).
