This repo provides build files for Apache Kafka and Confluent Docker images. The images can be found on Docker Hub, and sample Docker Compose files here. Information on using the Docker images is available in the documentation. Properties are inherited from a top-level POM.
cp-kafka is the Confluent official Docker image for Kafka and includes the Community Version of Kafka. confluent-local is a Kafka package optimized for local development. This Docker image enables you to quickly start Kafka in KRaft mode with no configuration setup.

Using Docker images, you can install the entire Confluent Platform or individual components. The Confluent Platform Docker images are available on DockerHub, and the source files for the images are available on GitHub. From GitHub you can extend and rebuild the images and upload them to your own DockerHub repository.
Using Docker is possibly the fastest way to get a locally running Kafka broker. To run Kafka in Docker, you'll need to install Docker Desktop. Then, after you've installed Docker Desktop, you'll use Docker Compose to create your Kafka container.
In this quick start, you create Apache Kafka® topics, and use Kafka Connect to generate mock data to those topics. You then go to Confluent Control Center to monitor your data. These steps use Docker, but there are other ways to install Confluent Platform.
To solve this, you can use a Python script I wrote that generates the docker-compose file: kafka-docker-composer. In this guide, we'll share more details about the installation, examples, use cases, and more. The tool requires a working Python 3 environment. (It has been tested with Python 3.8 - 3.11.)
