The grammar is also wrong. If there were two people (Sam and Judy), you could not say "befriend Sam with Judy". That is not how the word "befriend" is used. Yes, though "each other" is unusual. Usually people say "Sam befriended Judy".

I think that is the one I was trying to remember. The only issue I have with befriend as discussed and defined in the WR dictionary is that it tends to only be used (in English) in passive voice. Se lier is more active, so I think that is what I was looking for. Thank you again!
