If STV leaves the ITV network, it will die. For a start, it would need to give up its Channel 3 licence. That licence would then undoubtedly be acquired by ITV Plc, meaning the "staple" shows (Coronation Street, Emmerdale, European football etc.) would still essentially be shown on the same channel.

From matchday four it was the ITV News Channel, which was UK only on Sky and 24 hours a day on the new Freeview, so they were now available on all digital platforms. They used it for the rest of the group stages - this was the last season of the second group stage - with, as you say, matches on ITV1 and ITV2 on the Tuesday and ITV2 and ITV News on the Wednesday.

Furthermore, Lorraine’s run time will be halved to 30 minutes. The changes will come into force in January 2026. ITV is planning to move Good Morning Britain to ITN, which produces ITV News.

Laura Kuenssberg, the BBC’s popular and highly rated political correspondent, is to leave the corporation in September and take up a new role as business editor for ITV News. She will also contribute to the current affairs strand Tonight. Kuenssberg joined the BBC in 2000, but swiftly came to prominence during last year’s general election.
