There are so many different attractions, and so much variety that we couldn’t possibly list them all on one page! That’s why we’ve broken it all down into easy to navigate sections, and also given you a handy search tool above so you can discover things that you like to do and see.
Visit our beaches. Our island has a varied coastline that boasts cliffs, coves, sandy beaches, secret inlets and hidden rock pools to discover. Wherever you end up staying, it’s easy to find a relaxing beach spot pretty much everywhere around our island.
As soon as you think of the Isle of Wight the iconic image of the world famous chairlift taking you to see the needles rocks and coloured sands spring to mind. The Islands most famous landmark attraction has so much more to enjoy than the stunning views, it is a destination not to be missed.
Shanklin Esplanade sits beneath the cliffs, accessed via a steep winding road at one end and another even steeper pathway at the southern end. Southern Vectis buse service the town. For bus information please visit the Southern Vectis website - www.islandbuses.info/.
The Isle of Wight also champions the ‘drive less see more’ ethos – it’s simple and easy to get to many of our beaches by foot, bike, bus or train. The recently published Slow Wight Travel Guide has some great ideas for getting around without a car – so why not slow down and see more.
Stroll among the village lanes and delight in the chocolate box cottages. Visit the historic church at nearby Mottistone, or find out more about this settlement at the Brighstone Village Museum. If you have green fingers or like a manor house, the Mottistone Estate is well worth a visit.

Compton is a great place to pick up fossils, including those of dinosaurs, and you can book tours on the beach to see the dinosaur footprints in the sandstone ledge at Hanover Point that are exposed at low tide.
