I was wondering if the Lazarus community is entertaining using FireMonkey for an IDE UI. Assuming no significant FMX bugs, what advantage would such a framework bring compared to the UI frameworks already supported?

If you want eye candy for games etc. Firemonkey has its use, but none of its features belong in business software. Firemonkey pretends to have a native look, but it is not much more than our custom drawn widget set: it is custom drawn, which will run you into trouble when the native GUI decides to introduce a different look.

I have a middle size project written in Delphi 10.3.3 Rio with FireMonkey framework. This project, on the FormCreate, will load data from external file to FDMemTable (In-memory dataset). FDMemTable's fields are connected by LiveBindings to many Labels to show the stored data.

Firemonkey is based on GLScene... Even some of FMX demos from XE2 works 1:1 as GLScene demo with minimal or without any change! Firemonkey license status is more unclear for me than ORCA.

I suggest to start with Lazarus by using FpUp(deluxe) installer for the best experience, at least thats how I started with it. It is possible not only for Windows but also for: MacOS X, iOS, Android and Linux.
