Indeed is just a glorified parasite of a website and most of the jobs you find on there are false doors. Indeed works by scraping hundreds or thousands of other websites for real job postings, and recreates the information as a new job in its own format. An overwhelming majority of jobs posted here are clones.
I actually hire people from indeed. I will occasionally text to set up an interview. But my primary focus is actually calling them. I find going to the indeed site to contact via message or email a pain. It's much swifter/ easier to get in direct contact. But as an employer; if that is the exact text they sent you. It is very poorly written.
Last January I accepted a job that was posted on Indeed. One of the worst positions I have ever held. My SO also found a position in December and love love loves it, but he searched for well over a year. Positions on Indeed are like the old school way of job searches with a newspaper. Weed out the trash and apply at what appeals.
Employers can see your resume and the last time you logged into Indeed if your resume is searchable. Basically when the employer posts a job, Indeed will pull together a list of potential candidates. The system isn't the best at it and will pull a candidate into the list even if it isn't the type of position they're looking for.
What I tend to do before I apply to something is look up the company online and see if they are listed on LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor as well as having a seemingly legit company website. Then I check the careers page on the company website and apply through there if they have an option to apply directly at the company instead of through Indeed.
Unless it’s your absolute only option, people need to stop applying with Indeed. Go to the company’s page and apply every time. Even if it’s not as easy or takes more time, just do it. Those “quick/easy apply” features with LinkedIn and Indeed are gimmicks. The only reason employers care about job boards is for advertising.
Been using indeed as reference point only and applying to companies which are directly related to my line of work no body is hiring anyone right now. Called one employer to verify whether there company is actually looking to hire for one particular role manager said the position has been filled for over year, this leaves me wondering about indeed legitimacy or accuracy of the adds they post ...
Indeed has a lot more sketchy job postings that ive noticed. Or are ghost job listings. Anything labeled as a sales representative is most likely for a life insurance company where u work on commission only and you MIGHT see anywhere from 60k to 200k a year.
Indeed is very well known as a website where people apply en masse to everything and anything. Having said that, I would not apply again at this point. If I see someone who applied on indeed and on the company website, my first thought is that this person is probably applying to so many jobs that they don’t even know where they have applied.
