It started as Gala Bingo but suffered a fire in 1998 and almost faced demolition. However, due to public demand, it was rebuilt and reopened as a bingo hall in the early 2000s, continuing operations until its closure in 2020. A budget of £9.5 million is now allocated to convert the site into 174 flats and a few other developments.

The site originally housed a coral social club before it was turned into a Gala Bingo hall, which was part of a well-known chain of bingo clubs across the UK. Over time, the venue fell out of use and closed, likely due to a combination of factors such as changing entertainment preferences and the decline of traditional bingo halls.
This is the Gala / Ritz Bingo hall in Nuneaton. It was a theatre and cinema before being converted to a bingo hall in the mid eighties. The interior is Grade II listed. It closed in 2007 and has been left to slowly deteriorate ever since. I worked there between 1994-98.
The Pavilion was taken over by the Granada Theatres Ltd on 24th November 1946 and was re-named Granada on 15th June 1947. The Granada Cinema was closed on 7th October 1972. It was soon converted into a Granada Bingo Club, and was later taken over by Gala Bingo from May 1991. In January 2019 it was announced the Gala would close in February 2019.

The applicants described the Gala/Kingsway as "an important feature in the urban landscape of Kings Heath High Street."
The Regal Cinema, later known as the Gala Bingo Hall, has stood on Richmond Road in Kingston since it was built in 1932. The stand-out building was designed by achitect Robert Cromie was a British architect known for his iconic Art Deco designs, most famously the Hammersmith Apollo and the interiors of the Savoy Hotel.

In 1997 Bass sold their bingo chain in a management buy-in and the club continued as Gala until owner Gala Coral Group Ltd announced their intention to close down the venue following a reorganisation of the company that also saw other bingo clubs closed throughout the United Kingdom. The final bingo session was held on Monday 27th July, 2009.
